Fastboot method is the best way to flash MIUI when a device is bricked/soft bricked or you want to install MIUI from your PC. Xiaomi provides Mi Flash Tool for flashing fastboot ROM directly from PC.

Fastboot MIUI ROM always comes with .tz or .tgz format. This article will show step by step guide to How to flash MIUI fastboot ROM using Mi Flash Tool.


At least 50% charged phone
USB cable to connect your phone
A working PC running on Windows OS
Developer option must be enabled. To do this Settings>>About phones >> tap on the MIUI Version 7 times
USB debugging must be enabled. To enable it Settings >> Additional Settings>>Developer Options >> enable USB Debugging.

Note: Take a backup before you proceed. I am not responsible if you make any damage to your device.

Below is the step by step guide to flash MIUI fastboot ROM using Mi Flash Tool:

Step 1: Download latest version of Mi Flash Tool and ADB drivers.

Download MI Flash Tool.

Download MI ADB Drivers.

Step 2: After downloading the Mi Flash tool and ADB driver install both of them on your PC. After installing restart your PC

Step 3: Switch off your phone and enter into Fastboot Mode by pressing Volume down+Power button at the same time. Then Connect Your device to PC by USB cable.


Step 6: Next, click the “Refresh” button and make sure the Mi Flash tool can recognize your device and ROM properly. After refreshing click on “Flash” to start the flashing process. just wait till the progress bar displayed is fully green. After completing disconnect your phone and turn it on.


Note: If you get any error message during installing try again selecting “Flash All” or “Flash all except data and storage” option in the bottom of MI Flash Tool.

Now you have successfully installed MIUI FastBoot ROM on your device. Enjoy.
